Meet Our Chiropractor

Dr Mike Townsend is the founder and lead chiropractor at Chiropractic First in South Burlington, Vermont. Since opening the practice in 2001, he has focused on helping patients understand why they are in pain and what it takes to correct it. His approach is centered on individualized chiropractic care, recognizing that every spine is unique and that lasting results come from addressing the root cause rather than masking symptoms.

Dr Mike earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life West Chiropractic College in the San Francisco Bay Area, a leading institution known for advanced chiropractic education and research. Prior to becoming a chiropractor, he worked as a paramedic, developing a calm, reassuring approach to patient care that continues to shape his practice today.

During his clinical training, Dr Mike interned in a high volume San Francisco based chiropractic office, treating hundreds of patients each week. This experience provided extensive exposure to spinal injuries, chronic pain conditions, and complex movement issues. After relocating to Vermont, he opened Chiropractic First so he could spend meaningful time with each patient and build long term relationships based on trust and education.

With over 25 years of experience and more than 8000 patients treated, Dr Mike remains personally involved in every aspect of care. Patients value his clear explanations, thoughtful approach, and commitment to helping them move beyond pain toward lasting improvement.
