About Chiropractic First in South Burlington VT
A patient focused chiropractic clinic built on trust education and results
Chiropractic First was founded with a simple but powerful belief that pain is not a lifestyle. Since opening our doors in South Burlington in 2001, our clinic has focused on helping patients understand why they are in pain and how to correct it rather than simply managing symptoms. Every spine is unique, which means every care plan must be individualized to support long term improvement.
We proudly serve South Burlington, Burlington, Williston, Winooski, Essex, Essex Junction, Milton, Shelburne, Charlotte, Hinesburg, Saint Albans, and surrounding Vermont communities. Many of our patients come to us after trying other forms of care without lasting relief and are looking for clear answers and a thoughtful approach.
Our Mission and Philosophy of Care
Our mission is to help patients break free from the belief that chronic discomfort is something they must simply live with. Many people experience pain with no clear explanation and are told it is normal or age related. At Chiropractic First, we take the time to look deeper at spinal health, movement patterns, and nervous system function to uncover hidden sources of dysfunction.
Healing takes time, understanding, and guidance. We combine evidence based chiropractic care with compassionate communication so patients feel informed, supported, and confident in their recovery. Our goal is to empower patients to take an active role in their long term health.
Meet Dr. Michael Townsend, DC
Dr Michael Townsend received his chiropractic education at Life West Chiropractic College in the San Francisco Bay Area, one of the most progressive chiropractic institutions in the country. Life West is known for its advanced training in chiropractic techniques and research, providing a strong foundation for evaluating complex cases and developing precise care strategies.
Before becoming a chiropractor, Dr Townsend worked as a paramedic in the San Francisco Bay Area. This experience taught him how to remain calm during high stress situations and how to reassure patients during their most difficult moments. He brings that same steady presence and attentiveness into his chiropractic practice every day.
